In the game Sleeping Dogs, you play as Wei Shen, a cop from San Francisco that grew up in Hong Kong. In an attempt to stop organized crime, you return to Hong Kong and go undercover, working your way up the “corporate ladder” from a mere foot soldier to sub-boss. Sounds easy right? Try doing it while you are also helping the cops by having to setup drug dealers. You will have to use your wits and a combination of weapons and martial arts to pull this off.
As you progress and earn the respect of your crime family, the missions will get harder, and more conflicting. Think you can handle this dual life? Sleeping Dogs has absorbing plot, that is comical at times, that places you in the mind of a cop that has went very deep undercover. This sandbox action, role playing game levelling surprise hit in 2012, gives you a lot to experience.
The conflict between the characters’ dual roles keeps getting messier, until the missions for Shen the criminal and Shen the cop directly clashes with each other. The missions in the game remains focused on the main story with plenty of side-missions to complete. As you progress, you will unlock new abilities to help make completing missions a little easier. This game presents you with an excellent package, and if you like games with compelling content and plenty of action, you will be pleased with Sleeping Dogs.
An unexpected hit for 2012.
