Spider-Man: Friend or Foe pits the famous web slinger against many of his enemies. After taking a good butt-kicking from Spidey, they are forced to team up with him to help defend the city from an alien invasion. You will get to play as the Green Goblin, Dr. Octopus and Venom as you smash through hordes of aliens. As you play as these other characters, you also acquire their unique abilities and powers. This Spider-Man title is created in the style of classics produced by Capcom, such as Final Fight. In each level, you will have to eliminate all of the aliens as you cross from one end to the other.
The aliens are kind of boring, without much in the way of an intelligent AI, or the use of different abilities or tactics. However, there are quite a few of them you will have to fight, so it still presents a challenge. For graphics, you will see a great deal of elements that have been borrowed from the comic and little that has been borrowed from the Spider-Man film. This gives the game somewhat of a humorous, if not somewhat annoying (in places), characteristic.
If you are a fan of Spider-Man, and you like classic styled games, Spider-Man: Friend or Foe could be a game you can enjoy. It is one of the few games that you are actually able to play as the traditional bad guys from the franchise. However, if you are looking for HD graphics and a top-notch AI, this isn’t it.
You are called to help Spider-Man save the city once again.
